Ralph Nathan Green, of Ridgefield, Connecticut, and husband of Joan (Bass) Green, passed away on October 23, 2021 with his 58-year-old wife by his side. Ralph is survived by his daughter, Denise E. Thompson of Australia, and children, Rebecca, Jacob and Mark, as well as his son and daughter-in-law, William R. Green and Kyla (Burgoon) Green of Ridgefield, and their children, Jacques, Jonathan and Marie.
Ralph was born at Norwalk Hospital on May 9, 1942, the only son of Ralph Sr. and Dorothy Green of Georgetown, Connecticut. He graduated from Danbury High School in 1960 and attended Central Connecticut State University in New Britain. He began his career in 1962 with the United States Postal Service in Wilton, where he worked until his retirement as a Mail and Delivery Supervisor after 26 years of service. After his retirement, he continued to work in his lawn business, Green Lawn Maintenance, until 2018. Ralph generously volunteered his time to maintain the lawn at his church, Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church, for over 48 years. years.
Ralph enjoyed many things, including traveling with his wife to Italy and France, as well as Austria and traveling to Utah with his family. He was an avid camper in the 1970s and was a scout leader for his son’s troops. Ralph loved skiing and teaching and spent 46 years in the ski patrol, teaching many people to ski, including his grandchildren. He also coached his grandson’s Ridgefield Little League team. He loved going to the Finger Lakes to visit wineries and was always eager to share his last bottle of wine with his family and friends. He enjoyed eating a good meal, cooking on his grill for his family and friends, and making improvements to the home he designed and helped build over 50 years ago.
He was passionate about history, especially family history and genealogy, which he studied for over 30 years, and was a son of the American Revolution. He loved all kinds of music, from jazz to blues and classical to Pink Floyd.
Ralph is also survived by many friends who, along with his loving family, will be sadly missed.
Friends will be received on Friday, October 29, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 10:00 am at the Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church; 207 Main Street, Ridgefield. Interment will take place in private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Danbury Regional Hospice, Ridgefield Fire Department, or Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church.
