Another popular ski resort in the Twin Tiers reports an afternoon of fun on the slopes ruined by burglars locked Vehicles.
Pennsylvania State Police say more than half a dozen skiers at Elk Mountain in Susquehanna County found their locked vehicles broken into and credit cards and cash stolen between eight a.m. and morning shift on February 27 and February 3 in the afternoon.
This report follows an incident that occurred on February 20and where windows were smashed on locked vehicles at Labrador Mountain in Truxton, New York and items were stolen.
During the Elk Mountain incident, soldiers said residents of Union Dale, Dallas, South Abington Township, Huntingdon Valley and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as well as skiers from Towson, Pennsylvania Maryland and Pittstown, New Jersey, had found their door locks broken. 20 credit cards, bank cards and gift cards with an unknown total cash limit value and a few hundred dollars in loose change were taken. Authorities say some of the stolen credit cards were used at Walmart stores in Dickson City, Pittston and Wilkes-Barre, a target in Dickson City, and Wegman’s in Wilkes-Barre.
Vehicle damage is estimated at a minimum of $3,500 for broken locks alone.
Anyone who may be observed by vehicles parked in the upper Elk Mountain parking lot on Sunday, February 27 is encouraged to review their video and contact the Pennsylvania State Police.
