Stowe advertises $450 season parking pass that does not guarantee space

Stowe, VT is responding to the crippling influx of traffic on its only two-lane access road by charging for parking this season.

They said in May that daily parking on weekends and holidays would cost $30and we now know that a seasonal parking pass will cost $450.

What’s odd is that parking is always first come, first served. That means Epic Pass holders could shell out an additional $450 for a seasonal parking pass and not always be guaranteed a parking spot.

That uh…sucks.

It is important to note that parking will remain free at all lots outside of peak days Monday through Thursday and after 2 p.m. daily. Customers arriving in a vehicle with 4 or more passengers will be allowed to park for free any day at any time.

Passes will be available for purchase on October 11 at 6 p.m. You can click here to learn more about the Stowe Seasonal Parking Pass.

Who in their right mind would even care to buy an Epic Pass, pay for parking, and sit in traffic every weekend to ski Stowe?

It makes sense if you’re a broke student who gets a student Epic Pass and can load up your SUV with three of your best friends every weekend for free parking, but otherwise it’s a tough sell.

I like the fact that I’m not a real journalist because that means I can be extremely biased when i say that-

Attention good people of Vermont and New England. There are plenty better places to ski in northern Vermont than Stowe to begin with. Explore the rest of the state where the soul of skiing and snowboarding lives.
